Apr. 28, 2009: 2008-2009 Scholastic Awards
This is the twenty-seventh year the Chicago Public League Basketball Coaches Association will reward excellence in scholarship for our athletes. These recipients are not necessarily the most valuable players or players in the all star game, but students who have shown high academic achievement and still managed to represent their school on the basketball court.
We proudly present the winners for the 2008-2009 season:
- Sam Thornton- 4.2 – Marshall
- Gwen Anderson – 4.17 - Taft
These seniors are awarded a $500.00 scholarship for their dedication to basketball and scholastic achievement. We congratulate these truly successful students and wish them the best in their quest for higher education.
We have awarded over $6,100.00 since this scholarship was conceived.
